He was born August 19, 1924, in Charleston SC to the late Eldridge Allison Singleton Sr. and Ruby McElhenney Singleton. They were dedicated to their family, their friends and their church. Al will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, a very special grandfather and great grandfather. Al was a good natured man, a loyal friend ready to lend a hand, share a laugh and tell a story or two. Making friends came easy to Al; he had many who will cherish their shared memories. In addition to his parents Al is preceded in death by his wife, Lucy. They are now both together again. Surviving are his two daughters Jan Ledwith and husband Bruce of Winston-Salem, Amy Guthrie and husband David of Winston-Salem; son David Singleton and wife Amy of Marietta GA; brother Robert ""Bob"" Singleton and wife Ruth of Winston-Salem; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 3:00PM, Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Kernersville Moravian Church with Rev. Ray Mims officiating. Interment will follow in the church Graveyard.
