Mrs. Elaine Hahn Patterson, 85, of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday February 5, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born April 14, 1926 in Canton, Ohio to Arthur John and Pearl Smith Hahn. She was former member of Waughtown Baptist Church and presently a member of New Friendship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leonard C. Thevenin, her second husband, Delmas ""Pat"" Patterson, a daughter, Linda Lee Thevenin and a son, Dennis C. Thevenin. Mrs. Patterson was retired from Roy Setzer Hardware. She never met a stranger and loved all people. She enjoyed making birthday cakes for hospice patients as long as she was able. Surviving are three daughters, Susan T. Simpson and husband, Charles of Winston-Salem, Lenna T. Sweat and husband, George of Angier, N.C. and Gayle P. Cook and husband, Tom of Rockingham; two sons, L. Arthur Thevenin and wife, Carol of Gallipolis Ferry, W. VA. and D. Greg Patterson of Columbia, S.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 35 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at New Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Byrne officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 12:30 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to New Friendship Baptist Church, 4258 Old Lexington Road, W-S, N.C. 27107 or to hospice and Palliative Care, 101 Hospice Lane, W-S, N.C. 27103. The family wishes to thank the staff of Mallard Ridge Assisted Living for the wonderful care given to Elaine the past three and half years. Thanks especially to Candace Goodson for her loving care.
