Elaine Miller Hunt of Arbor Acres died at Fitzgerald Health Center on April 4, 2011. She was born on September 8, 1916, in Waymart, PA, the daughter of Elmer Curtis Miller and Cora Bidwell Miller. After graduation from Waymart High School, she attended Scranton-Lackawnna Business College and worked for a time at the International Correspondence School. She graduated from Susquehanna University in 1941 and taught in Unadilla (NY) High School. She was a member of Kappa Delta Phi sorority. She married Rev. Clark W. Hunt in 1942. She is remembered as a helpful partner in ministry and as the gracious hostess of the parsonage in pastorates in Crestwood, New York, Albany, New York, and Westfield, New Jersey. Upon retirement, Dr. and Mrs. Hunt moved to River Hills at Lake Wylie, South Carolina, and then moved to Arbor Acres in 1988. Since moving to Arbor Acres, Mrs. Hunt has been a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and of Chapter P, P.E.O. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and walking. Wherever she lived, she readily made friends. She was known for the smile on her face, the help from her hands, and the quiet goodness from her faith-full life. She is survived by her husband of 68 years; a son, Dr. Clark Curtis Hunt and wife, Ann, of Midlothian, VA; a daughter, Judith MacMillan of Cle Elum, WA; seven grandchildren and their families: Michael MacMillan, wife, Nikki, and son, Grayson; Kerry Gnik, husband Mark and children, Gavin and Sydney; Peter Manier and daughter Paige, Molly MacMillan, Beth Manier, Jill Hunt, Timothy Hunt. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Elmer Curtis Miller, who served in the Air Force in World War II and was shot down over Japan in 1945; and by her son-in-law, Greg MacMillan. A Memorial Service is planned for April 16th at 2 PM in the Fellowship Hall at Arbor Acres. The family expresses appreciation to the staff and employees for the quality of life at Arbor Acres during the retirement years of Elaine and Clark and for competent caring during periods in Fitzgerald Health Care Center.
