Mrs. Elaine L. ""Babe"" Alexander, 67, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born in Forsyth County on April 27, 1942 to the late John E. Lawson and Alma Blackburn Lawson. Elaine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. She retired from Westinghouse and loved to fish, be outdoors, crafts, flowers and her pool league. Elaine is survived by her husband, Dennis Alexander of the home, two daughters, Susan Mabe Towe and husband Matthew and Sharon Denise Wall and husband Bradley both of Walnut Cove, three sons, Jimmie Lane Mabe of Tobaccoville, Mark Allan Mabe of Jacksonville, FL and Michael Dennis Alexander of East Bend, 9 grandchildren to whom she was known as ""Wrinkle Granny"", two sisters, Nancy Lawson Adams and husband Jack and Wanda Lawson Plowman both of Rural Hall, three brothers, Aubrey ""Dick"" Lawson of Wallburg, David Lawson of Wallburg and John ""Bud"" Lawson Jr. of Greensboro. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many close friends. Funeral services for Elaine will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. John Hylton officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6-9 this evening Monday, November 9, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Derrick L. Davis Cancer Center at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem in her honor.
