Eilzabeth Hartley

Ms. Elizabeth "Lib" Hartley, 91, of Gastonia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 23, 2017. Elizabeth was born to the late Vester and Katie Creech on May 21, 1926, in Johnston County, North Carolina. She was one of six children. On October 4, 1942, at the age of 16 she married Melvin Leo Hartley. God blessed this 47 year union with six children. At the age of 19, Elizabeth gave her heart to the Lord. Side by side with her husband, Bishop Hartley, she was a dedicated church servant. She taught Sunday School for years and also served as State Staff for the Church of God of Prophecy in Maryland, West Virginia, Missouri, South Carolina, Massachusetts, and North Carolina. She had over 65 years of ministry and dedicated work for the Lord. Preceding Elizabeth in death are her husband; son, Roger Hartley, son-in-law, Larry Aldridge, two brothers, Junior and Garland Creech; one sister, Rachael Edwards. Surviving are five children, Ronald Hartley and wife Lenita, Glenda Aldridge, Judy Schall and husband Jerry, Lee Hartley, Kevin Hartley and wife Ashley; daughter-in-law, Madonna Hartley Parks; her brother, Melvin Creech and sister, Katherine Creech. Elizabeth was blessed to have 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild. Her love and devotion for her family was a beautiful example of a Godly mother with a servant's heart. Her true joy was being with her children cooking all their favorite foods, including her famous cheese biscuits. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Life Impact Church (COGOP) 5090 South Main Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27107 with Rev. Billy R. Norris and Rev. George McLaughlin officiating. A private interment will follow. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Life Impact Church, 5090 South Main Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27107. Online condolences can be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
