FROM:Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Inc. Linville, Sr. Mr. Edwin Winfred Linville, Sr., 84, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Linville was born in Forsyth County on February 20, 1925 to the late Roy and Ethel White Linville. He served in the Navy as a mine sweeper during World War II. Mr. Linville was a former member of the Winston-Salem Lions club and the Elks club, as well as a member of Highland Presbyterian Church. He retired from the Mother and Daughter store after 44 years of service. He was an avid fisherman who loved to fish, and spend time at the ocean or the lake boating. Mr. Linville was preceded in death by a bother Dan Linville. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Rubye Branon Linville of the home; a son Edwin Linville, Jr and wife Carol of Winston-Salem; a sister in law Desdemona Payne and husband Larry of Lexington; grandchildren Matthew , Jared , Annette, Gidget, Nicholas, Hayley, Caleb, Morgan, and Jacob; a sister Nancy Carpenter of Greensboro; and two nephews Doctors David Carpenter and wife Becky and Jack Carpenter and wife Helen all of Greensboro. A brother in law Richard Branon, wife June and family. A service will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Forsyth Memorial Park Gazebo with the Rev. Randy Harris officiating and military rites performed by the Veteran's of Foreign Wars. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
