Mr. Edwin Hampton “Eddie” Brown, III, 80, a resident of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, March 24, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center. Eddie was born in Forsyth County to the late Edwin Hamton Brown, Jr and Claudia Doris Larrimore Brown on December 14, 1944. Mr. Brown retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco after many years as a press operator. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially deer hunting. Eddie was a member of several organizations showcasing his love for hunting such as: a lifetime member of the NRA, lifetime member of the North American Hunting Club, lifetime member of the NC Rifle and Pistol Association, lifetime member of the Bass Sportsman Society, a member of Ducks Unlimited, a lifetime member of Buckmaster’s Society, a lifetime member of North American Fishing Club, and a member of the Weatherby Collection Association. Eddie proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Oldtown Masonic Lodge #751, the Shriners, and Eastern Star #355. He also enjoyed honoring his Scottish Heritage and was a member of Clan MacMillian and York Rites and Scottish Rites. In addition to donating his time to all these charities and organizations, he was able to donate 98 pints of blood to the American Red Cross. Eddie was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Rebecca Anne Wooten Brown.
Left to cherish Eddie’s memory are his son, Edwin Hampton Brown, IV of the home; a brother, Billy Ray Brown of Walnut Cove; a sister, Fran Hollowell (Ron) of Kernersville; a sister-in-law, Alta Lineback (Chris) of Lexington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to honor Eddie’s life will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 1:00PM in Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor T.W. Bailey officiating. The family will greet friends Sunday evening from 6-8PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Union Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 2295 Union Grove Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
