Dr. Edward Albert Lukes, 82, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023. He was born June 21, 1941, in Chicago, IL to the late Edward Joseph Lukes and Helen Marie Bielak.
Dr. Lukes was a dedicated History Professor at the University of South Florida and Hillsborough Community College. He was a Texas historian and also specialized in Latin American history. A published author, Dr. Lukes was particularly proud of his 6 years of military service in the United States Army during the 1960s. Dr. Lukes also took great pride in his Polish heritage.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving maternal grandparents, Joseph and Mary Bielak. Edward is survived by two children, Martin Lukes and Jean Fifer; loving daughter-in-law, Laura Lukes; and five beloved grandchildren: Joseph Lukes, Martin Lukes, Jr., Alex Fifer, Bernard Lukes, and Ryan Fifer.
A graveside service will be held at a later date for Edward in Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
