Mr. Edward Kemp Helms, 62, of Clemmons passed away unexpectedly (peacefully at home) in his sleep Tuesday, June 15, 2010. He was formerly of Wingate, NC, born January 21, 1948 to Thomas Curtis and Betty Davis Helms who preceded him in death. Mr. Helms was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church and was employed at Nonni's Foods in Yadkinville. He loved to play Bridge and loved playing with his granddaughters who were the apple of his eye. Surviving is his loving wife of 40 years, Connie Helms; a son, Allen Helms and daughter-in-law, Dana of Pfafftown; a daughter, Lisa Dailey and son-in-law, David of Lewisville; four beautiful granddaughters who he loved and adored, Makenzie and Madylan Helms, Megan and Caroline Dailey who lovingly called him Papa Ed; four sisters, Mary Ann Campbell and husband Phil of Franklinton, Tommie Austin Young and husband Jim of Raleigh, Betty D. Helms of Raleigh, and Barbara Howe and husband Tom of Oxford. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 18 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with Dr. Steve Martin officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:45 p.m. Friday at the church prior to the service.
