Edward Rengel Hayes

KERNERSVILLE- Edward Rengel Hayes, 91, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born on April 6, 1924 in New York to James A. and Mary Witz Hayes.

Edward was a WWII Veteran of the US Army Air Corp, serving in New Guinea and the Philippines. He loved to read and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Whiting Hayes; and a sister, Helen Canada.

Surviving are his three step-daughters, Carol Piatt and husband, Dean, Shirley Martin, Sandra Killian and husband, Raymond; two step-sons, Richard Bray and wife, Joyce, Terry Bray and wife, Barbara; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and many other loving family members.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Rick Carter officiating. Memorials may be directed to Hospice & Palliative Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103.
