Mr. Edward Lee ""Lucky"" Dean, 88 of Winston-Salem, NC passed away Monday, December 14, 2009 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Dean was born May 29, 1921 in Davidson County to the late John Leroy and Maggie Foltz Dean. He retired from Roadway Express in 1979 after 35 years of service and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, Mr. Dean was a member of the Holiday Ramblers Camping Club, receiving his 40 year pin and Certificate from John Hardy the President of the Holiday Ramblers. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dean was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilburn and Ray Dean. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years, Louise Fox Harris Dean of the home; a daughter, Marilyn Lee Godfrey of Winston-Salem, four step children; Juanita Long of Winston-Salem, Janice Wood and husband, Larry of Advance, Gurney L. Harris, Jr. of Lexington, NC; Judy Pierce and husband, Stanley of Clemmons, NC; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The Dean Family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Wednesday,, December 16 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The Funeral Service will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, December 17 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel officiated by the Rev. Neil Eller and Rev. Brett Kitko. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
