Edna "Mickey" Smith

KERNERSVILLE - Mrs. Edna ""Mickey"" Lineback Smith, 79, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Arbor Acres. Mickey was born on November 2, 1934 in Forsyth County to Charles Roscoe and Rachel Irene Swaim Lineback.
In addition to her parents, Mickey was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Neil E. Smith; a brother, Jack H. Lineback; and sister-in-law, Rebah Hall. Neil and Mickey were married while he was in Seminary at Emory University in Atlanta. Mickey left her job and moved to Emory in one day and the next day had a job at Emory University Hospital in the Nursing Service Department. Neil finished seminary at age 23. Mickey participated actively with her husband in the UMC ministry in the Western North Carolina Conference for 38 years. Together they were privileged to serve churches in Forsyth-Stokes; Friendship-Shady Grove; Oak Hill-Morganton; Thrift - Charlotte; Midway - Kannapolis; Plaza-Charlotte; Sedge Garden- Kernersville; Woodmont - Reidsville; and Tyro - Lexington.

She is survived by her brother, Joel C. Lineback (Patsy) and other immediate family members, Joel Neil, Shannon, Kaitlin and Nathan Lineback; sister-in-law, Jenny Smith; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Special friends that are held in deepest regard are Ruth Heath, Joyce Eagle, Rev. & Mrs. Dixon Adams and Bob & Dot Sides.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Karen Smith and Rev. Ellis Rouse officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at the funeral home.

The family wishes to extend their most sincere thanks to the Arbor Acres Skilled Nursing Facility - Fitzgerald Hall for all the loving support and help that ""Mickey"" experienced while in their care. They are truly very skilled, sincere and a very caring medical staff!
