Edna James Nelson

Mrs. Edna Ruth James Nelson, 72 of Clemmons passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 at home. She was born May 15, 1942 in Davidson County to William Franklin and Ruth Mendenhall James. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Edna loved children and operated a day care out of her home for over 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, James (Jimmy) Nelson, a son-in-law, John Kiger, a brother, David James and a sister, Jeanette James. Surviving are a daughter, Karon Kiger; a son, Keith Nelson (Doris); 5 grandchildren, Joshua Keith Nelson, Jordan Margie Nelson, Jacob Cecil Nelson, Ashlie Rene Kiger and John Caleb Kiger; 6 brothers, Monroe James (Jean), Kenneth James (Brenda), Richard James (Janet), Clarence James, Bruce James (Phyllis) and Doyle James (Karyn); a sister, Audrey Sink (Bud); and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Pinedale Christian Church with Danny Spainhour officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:00 PM prior to the service at the church. A private family burial will follow the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, N.C. 28215 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Davie County, 377 Hospital Street, Suite 103, Mocksville, N.C. 27028 family would like to especially thank Edna's caregiver, Ms. Shirley for her faithful love and support.
