Edna Fay Turner Mitchell

Mrs. Edna Fay Turner Mitchell, 91, of Walkertown, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 at her home. She was born January 1, 1922 in Fries, VA to Daisy Mae and William Jackson Turner. Mrs. Mitchell was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and ma. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David A. Mitchell; a daughter, Brenda M. Councilman; a son, Page A. Mitchell; a grandson, Charlie D. Councilman; a brother, Flash Turner; and a sister, Liz Barrett. Surviving are one daughter, Teresa M. Horton and husband Gene; a son-in-law, Larry Councilman and wife Ann; grandchildren who knew her as ""Ma"", Penny and Andy Scott, Anthony ""Poncho"" Mitchell, Kevin Evans, Jason and Shannon Councilman, and Wendy and Amiss Bartlett; great grandchildren, Brittany Evans, Andrew Scott, Sarah Scott, Ashley Evans, Christopher Evans, Sadie Bartlett, Jaxon Councilman, and Bailey Stowe; one great-great grandchild, Kinleah Kost; a sister, Evelyn Williams; a brother, Doug Turner; and a brother-in-law, Roy Barrett. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 17 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church with the Rev. Janet Dixon, the Rev. Jeff Harlow, and the Rev. Jack Danley officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends Thursday at the church from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
