Edna Long

A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands put to rest, by God's grace and mercy. Edna Allen Long, 86 died Friday, December 12, 2008. She was born June 30, 1922 in Davie County to Wesley Cleveland and Lola Riddle Allen. Edna was a member of Salem Baptist Church, was retired from AT&T Corp and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Payne Long, Sr. in 1972. Surviving to cherish her memory, are her two sons; Larry C. Long and wife Nancy of Yadkinville, Frank Long and wife Ann of Lewisville; a daughter; Becki Day and husband Burley Day, Jr. of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren; Laura Smith and husband Jeff, W. Matthew Long and wife Alissa; two great grandchildren; Colton Wesley Smith and Clinton Logan Smith; two step great grandchildren; Courtney Fine and Jeffery Fine; a half sister; Estelle Smith of Mocksville; a step sister; Elizabeth Teague of Clemmons and a sister in law; Nell Scott of Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be conducted 3:00 pm Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory, Clemmons, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church, 429 S. Broad Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101
