Edna Lapish Laird

Edna Lapish Laird, 77, of Winston-Salem, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024, at Homestead Hills.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Laird was born April 17, 1947, in Davie County, to William Hendrix Lapish and Emma Tutterow Lapish. She had many hobbies including fishing, crafting, racing, bowling, baking/cooking, and watching Hallmark and Lifetime Christmas movies. Halloween and Christmas were her favorite holidays, and she loved celebrating them. She was known for her adventurous spirit, especially when her chosen sister, Lisa, was involved. They took many trips they called “Creeping Trips” to Tennessee and the coast to fish and go to the Huddle House in the middle of the night to get coffee. Edna never met a stranger and was a caretaker to all; she had a big heart and will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband, George Vernon Laird; and eight siblings, Major Lapish, Ila Mae Edwards, Ruby Schneider, Peggy Hayes, Patricia Ann Spivey, Stella Sue Lapish, Sam Lapish, and John Lee Lapish.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Mickey Laird (Bridget); her daughter, Renee Brown (Steven); two grandchildren, Bobby Laird (Brittney), and Selena Lanning (Kyle); seven great-grandchildren, George and Kyleigh Laird, Sawyer Lanning, Wyatt and Gavin Stillie, Ansleigh Johnson, and Mattie Atwood; her sister in-law, JoAnn Lapish; and numerous nieces and nephews.
