Edna B. Holt

Mrs. Edna B. Holt, 87, of Winston-Salem, widow of Jack W. Holt, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Holt was born in Davidson County to Benjamin Elihu and Macy Tuttle Bennett on May 6, 1922. She was a devoted member of Canaan United Methodist Church, serving as church treasurer for many years. Mrs. Holt was also a member of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Holt was a bookkeeper for Tuttle Lumber Company for 60 years. She will always be remembered as a loving wife of 66 years, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. She loved Carolina basketball. Mrs. Holt was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jamie Bennett (Kat) and nephew Smith Bennett. She is survived by her son, Keith and Deborah Holt; grandchildren, April and Joshua Henighan, Allison Holt (deceased), and Ashley Holt; great grandchildren, Benjamin Holt, Nathaniel Henighan, L.J. Henighan, Hannah Henighan, and Caleb Henighan; a beloved ""sister"", Arlene Kirby; a nephew, Jim Bennett (Julie); and a niece Jackie Renegar (Archie). A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Canaan United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Ireson and the Rev. Lee Strange officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
