Edna Church Head Bailey passed away on June 10, 2023 at Bermuda Commons. She was born in Forsyth County, North Carolina on December 8, 1928, to Worth Odell Church and Ila Elledge Church.
Edna was one of a kind – a gentle-natured, kind-hearted and dedicated soul. Her essence radiated warmth and generosity which endeared her to all who knew her. She was deeply devoted to her faith and church community. Edna was a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church where she was honored to serve as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. She was active in her church and attended regularly until her health declined.
After a successful 38-year career with RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, Edna retired to enjoy a life full of family activities and hobbies. She loved spending time reading books, soaking up the sun on beach trips and eating tacos & ice cream.
In 1946 she married William Mailon Head who predeceased her. She later married Frank William Bailey, who also predeceased her. Edna is survived by her three children; son William Stephen Head (Beverly), daughters Renee Huff (Frank), and Rita Atwood; four grandchildren: Stephanie Head Hall (T.C.), Elizabeth Head Wood (Randy), Rebecca Huff Sagen and Clint Austin Atwood (Jennifer): six great-grandchildren: Bailey Sagen, Conner Wood, Jacob Wood, Lauren Wood, Raeley Atwood and Ace Atwood. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in her honor at 2pm Thursday June 15, 2023 at Parklawn Memorial Park in Winston-Salem.
The service is open to all that knew and loved Edna. It goes without saying that her presence will be sorely missed by her family and friends who draw inspiration from the life she led and the memories she leaves behind.
