Mrs. Edith Simmons Vaden, age 96 passed away peacefully at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem Thursday morning September 18, 2014. Mrs. Vaden was born in Stokes County, May 3, 1918 to Maggie and Elisha Simmons, she lived most of her adult life in Winston-Salem and later in Rural Hall. She was a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church in Winston-Salem since 1950. In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Vaden and one sister, Francis Vaden.
Edith was the beloved mother of Wayne Vaden and Brenda Vaden Motsinger. Also surviving are her son-in-law, James Ketner Motsinger of Rural Hall. One grandson, Christopher Todd Motsinger and wife Dawn of Kernersville. One great-grandson Garrett Motsinger, two great-granddaughters; Kendall and Cameron Motsinger and one sister, Pauline Simmons Tilley of Winston-Salem. Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Vaden will be held Sunday, September 21, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Rural Hall by Rev. Gupton Johnson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, September 21st from 1:30 until 2:30. A committal service will be held Monday, September 22, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Forest Hill Baptist Church, 402 Polo Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
