Edith Sutton Smith

Lewisville Mrs. Edith Sutton Smith, 90, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born on November 9, 1925 in Lenoir County, NC to the late Milton and Lila Creech Sutton. Mrs. Smith retired from teaching first grade at Lewisville Elementary with 35 years of service. She was a member of Lewisville United Methodist Church for more than 60 years. She loved sewing and needlework, playing bridge, reading, and gardening. Mrs. Smith was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Preceding her in death were her husband, John Elliott Smith; brother, Carl Sutton and a sister, Rosalee Smith. Surviving are three daughters, Nancy Wonsavage (Frank) of Lewisville, Lila Markley of Summerfield, and Sarah Maloney of Lewisville; six devoted grandchildren, Paul Wonsavage, Mark Wonsavage, Evan Markley, Jake Markley, Catie Donadio (Benedict), and Wilson Maloney; also surviving are two sisters, Chrystal Beaman of Snow Hill and Charlotte Jones of Kinston.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Lewisville United Methodist Church with Dr. Ivan Peden officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 216 W.
