Ms. Edith Burwell Roberts, 90, of Clemmons, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at The Elms of Tanglewood. She was born March 22, 1918 in Stokes County to John William and Edna Page Burwell. Mrs. Roberts was a member of Clemmons First Baptist Church and retired with 21 years of service from AT&T. After her retirement she was a volunteer for 20 years at Forsyth Medical Center. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Roberts, four sisters and three brothers. Surviving her are two daughters, Jan Zimmerman and husband Benny of Clemmons and Kathy Jo Roberts of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Heather Bennett of Columbia, SC, Kylie Roberts of Boston MA and Rocklin Roberts of Florida; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Hughes Burwell and wife Jean of Graham and Joe Burwell and wife Peggy of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Richard G. Hall of King and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Clemmons First Baptist Church with Dr. Robby Phillips, Dr. Steve Foster and Rev. Paul Mullen officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel.
