Mrs. Edith Atelia Hendrix Long, 84, of Statesville, NC passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Gordon Hospice House, Statesville, NC. Mrs. Long was born February 25, 1930 in Davie County to the late Eddie Nathaniel and Annie Swan Sidden Hendrix. Edith worked for Hanes Knitting Corp. until 1975, leaving to become the Office Manager for Long Grading Company of Winston-Salem, working alongside with her husband. She was a member of Circle L. Cowboy Church in Statesville, which she and her husband started on their farm. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary, Joyce, and Vernie. Surviving to cherish her memory is her husband, Wilburn Long, with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage, on January 1, 2015. They have two daughters; Mitzi Bennett and husband, Mike of Statesville, Jill Payne and husband, Johnny of Lexington, NC, a grandson; Brody Jones and wife, Ashley of Statesville, two great-grandchildren; Aiden, and Charlotte Jones, six siblings; Lucy, Evelyn, Robert, Vance, Sarah, Annie and a number of nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Hebron Church of Christ, 129 Hebron Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127, officiated by Pastor Michael Pharr. The family will receive friends from 5-7:30 pm Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in the Fellowship Hall of Konnoak Hills Moravian Church 3401 Konnoak Drive, Winston Salem, NC 27127. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28265. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
