Mrs. Edith Ragsdale Lakey, 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2010 at her home. She was born August 11, 1924 in Forsyth County to Newton D. and Rea Cook Ragsdale. Mrs. Lakey was a charter member of Union Cross Baptist Church. She retired from Southern Tool Manufacturing Company. Mrs. Lakey was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Surviving are her husband, Elvert W. Lakey of the home; one daughter, Judy Daniels (Marty) of Kernersville; one son, Dale Lakey (Faye) of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Kathy Horton (Jason), Bill Daniels (Shaylena), Christopher Lakey (Kristi) and Michelle Liddle (Jason); six great grandchildren, Sarah Horton, Lauren Horton, Madyson Daniels, Kaleb Daniels, Kamdyn Lakey and Brody Lakey; three sisters, Josephine Hauser of East Bend, Betty Stonestreet of Winston-Salem and Thelma Ragsdale of Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2010 at Union Cross Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Hinson officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the church.
