Mrs. Edith D. Bowers, 98, formerly of Irwin, PA died Sept. 4, 2009 at The Oaks of Forsyth, Winston-Salem. Edith was born June 17, 1911 in Oil City, PA to Amy Lowery and Layard E. Dinger. Edith was an RN and School Nurse for the Norwin School District in Irwin, PA for many years before retiring to Clearwater, FL. She was a member of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Epiphany. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, George F. Bowers. She is survived by her son, Jack D. Bowers and wife Susan of Winston-Salem; a sister, Ruth Murray and husband Carroll of Reynoldsville, PA; a brother, Charles Martin of Demorest, GA; granddaughters, Stephanie Jean Keiger (Bill) of Charlotte, and Melanie Ann Ciesielski (Jim) of Clemmons; great grandsons, Alexander Paul Ciesielski and Nicholas Lee Keiger; great granddaughter, Caroline Grace Keiger; and several nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, Clearwater, FL. Funeral and burial arrangements will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Epiphany Endowment Fund at The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Epiphany, 5220 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27106-5598.
