Mr. Edgar Ray Smith, Sr. age 69 of King passed away Thursday evening, November 19, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center Winston-Salem from complication due to an auto accident. Edgar was born September 21, 1946 in Forsyth County to Alfred Douglas and Maude E. Billings Smith. He was a United States Army veteran having served in Vietnam, a truck driver (Handle; Ghost Rider) for many years and of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents Edgar was preceded in death by one grandson, Devin Smith and six siblings. Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Greg) Harrison of King. One son, Edgar Ray Smith, Jr. also of King. Five grandchildren; Amber, Isabella, Alivia, Haley and Jordan. One sister, Sylvia (Gene) Lindley of Lexington. Two brothers; Larry (Gail) Smith of Winston-Salem and Johnny (Janice) Smith of Clemmons. Several nieces and nephews. A graveside service for Mr. Smith will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC by Rev. Bruce Harris. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall Monday evening November 23rd from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
