Mr. Edgar LaVerne ""Bud"" McGee, 87, a resident of Independence Village, Winston-Salem died Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born February 20, 1924 in Forsyth County, the son of the late Edgar V. and Daisy Teague McGee. Mr. McGee was a member of First United Church of Christ and served with the US Air Force during World War II. He worked for a short time at the Carolina Theatre and retired from Western Electric Co. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velma G. McGee; three brothers, Chester , Howard and Herman McGee and four sisters, Eva Smith, Ruth Dooley, Evelyn Jones and his twin sister, LaVanche McGee. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 AM at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Wayne Linville and Rev. Elizabeth Horton officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
