MONROE, NC--Mrs. Eathel Brewer Dunfee Sharpe, 90, of Monroe, NC, formerly of Winston-Salem, departed for her heavenly home on Christmas night surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 20, 1922 in Lesage County, West Virginia to George C. and Cora B. Brewer. Eathel was a faithful member of Easton Baptist Church and then moved her membership to Konnoak Baptist Church. In the later years of her life she attended church with her three daughters at different churches in Winston-Salem and Monroe, NC. She retired from AT&T, formerly Western Electric. She was a loving, self sacrificing mother, who dedicated her life to her three daughters. Her life's goal was that they become educated, independent women. Her greatest joy was time with her family. Preceding Mrs. Sharpe in death are her husband, James Richard Sharpe; her parents, three brothers and four sisters. Surviving Mrs. Sharpe are three daughters, Meredith D. Green (Dairl) of Winston-Salem, Beth D. Clark (Grant) of Clemmons, NC, and Vye D. Wight (David) of Monroe, NC; four grandchildren, Rod Green (Karen) of Cartersville, GA, Elana Hires (Tom) of Advance, NC, Greg Green (Susan) of Waxhaw, NC, and Kristen Wight (Eric) of Charlotte, NC; ten great-grandchildren and one sister, Dorothy Blake of Greenwood, West Virginia. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Clemmons, NC with Rev. Roland Barnhardt officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Winston-Salem, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Forsyth County, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or The Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
