Earnest Odell Haigwood

Mr. Earnest Haigwood, 85, of Rural Hall, quietly passed away at his home Saturday, January 10, 2015. He was born in Forsyth county on November 15, 1929 to Jasper Haigwood and Thelma Worley Haigwood. He was a dedicated employee of R.J. Reynolds who retired with 40 years of service. In addition, he worked at Salemtowne Retirement Center for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn Tuttle Haigwood; son, Larry Haigwood; one grandson, Justin Cardwell. He is survived by his son, Tony Haigwood; daughter, Kim Haigwood; daughter-in-law, Dena Haigwood; three grandchildren, Jordan Cardwell, Carolyn Haigwood, and Lindsey Haigwood; sister, Virginia Cox and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hopsice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
