Earline Nelson White passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Dec. 12, 2012. Earline was born on June 26, 1923 to the late Luther and Linnie Belle Phillips Nelson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 69 years, Bruce Emerson White. Also, preceding her in death were her brothers, Junior, Lloyd and Leroy Nelson, along with sisters Doris Nelson and Louise Lumley, and her youngest daughter, Peggy McGraw (Frank). Earline will be remembered by family and friends as an individual who had a quick smile and love for life and family. She is survived by her children, Sandra Massey (Bill), and Bruce White, Jr. (Wendy Potter). In addition, she leaves six grandchildren, Tracy M. Clark, Meredith McGraw Lozier, Lindsay McGraw Owen, Monica White Rice, Nicole White, and Bryson White, along with 5 great grandchildren, Maddison and Gavin Owen, Emily Clark, and Alex and Dylan Lozier, in addition to many nieces and nephews. Earline played guard for Mineral Springs High School Basketball Team, winning the 1940 and 1941 Winston-Salem Journal and Sentinel's Northwest Tournaments. She played briefly for the Hanes Hosiery Women's Team. She worked 10 years for RJ Reynolds Tobaco Company and retired from Thalheimer's Dept. Store. She loved her church family at Friedberg Moravian, especially making chicken pies with Circle 5 of the Women's Fellowship. She will be remembered for the many stories she loved to tell about meeting the love of her life on a blind date, and how they eloped before he went off to serve in the South Pacific during WWII. She also loved to hear a good joke, and had many she was quick to share. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon, Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, officiated by Rev. G. Thomas Shelton and Rev. James Newsom. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service. The family would like to express sincere appreciation and gratitude to Hospice and Palliative Care Center for providing many caring hands and hearts, ensuring our Mother had tender care and emotional support throughout her final days and hours.
