Earlene Allen Rakestraw, 90, of Winston-Salem, widow of James D. Rakestraw, died Tuesday, April 13, 2010. She was born December 1, 1919 in the Bethany Community of Rockingham County, to C. Lygnal Allen, Sr. and Minnie Lester Allen. Earlene retired as a secretary from AT&T with 29 years of service. She was a member of Smyrna Presbyterian Church of Reidsville, NC. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Louise (Everett) Goans; and brother, Clarence L. (Mollie) Allen, Jr. She is survived by a son, Michael (Brenda) Rakestraw; daughter, Carolyn (David) Hall; three grandsons, Brian (Tiffany) Hall, Andrew Hall and Jonathan Rakestraw; and a great granddaughter, Madison Hall. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 14 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 15 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Dr. Harold Fletcher officiating. Donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
