Mr. Earl Wallace Thompson, Jr., 61, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Thompson was born on June 26, 1950 in Fairhope, Alabama to the late Mr. Earl Thompson, Sr. and Marjori Lou Cox Thompson. Mr. Thompson served in the United States Marine Corps. after graduating from high school and during his service he fought in the Vietnam War. Earl worked in sales and specialized in photography. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Gail Pitts Thompson of the home; four daughters, Patricia Hull (Rodney) of Rural Hall, Tanya Davis (Jonathan) of Land O' Lakes, Florida, Tina Gaddie of Lakeland, Florida and Iris Goodwin of Lexington; two sons, Kevin Wallace of Winston-Salem and Jerry Goodwin of Winston-Salem; one sister, Kay Palmer of Las Vegas, Nevada; 14 grandchildren, Brandon Thompson, Michelle Hull, Matthew Gaddie, Tyler Davis, Nicholas Hull, Madison Hull, Carson Davis, Kandice Cordova (Nick), Keith Riddle, Four Goodwin, Hagan Rall, Stormie Goodwin, China Goodwin and Justin Goodwin; three great-grandchildren, Steven Vandervoort, Nicholette Cordova and Bentley Riddle. A graveside service with full military rites will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Monday September 12, 2011 at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC with Pastor Clyde Akers officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
