Earl Devon Hewett

Kernersville - Mr. Earl Devon Hewett age 64 of Kernersville passed away Wednesday June 24, 2009 after a lengthy battle of cancer. He was born February 17, 1945 in Persons County to Arthur and Mary Prince Hewett. Earl worked at several area Chevrolet Dealerships, retiring from Parks Chevrolet. He was well known for his love of fishing on Cape Lookout National Seashores and the friends and fellowship spanning 25 years. He enjoyed restoring old cars and trucks. He was also known for the love he shared with his family and friends. Preceding Mr. Hewett in death was his wife Annie Tillman Hewett and his father. They shared four loving children, two daughters Leigh Bodenheimer and husband Mark of Colfax and Heidi Hewett and partner David Udel of Meadowbridge, WV.; two sons Marty Hewett and wife Susan of Kernersville and Nicky Hewett of Hampstead, mother Mary Elium of Greensboro; one brother, James Wallace Hewett and wife Debbie of Germanton; one sister Patricia Shelton and husband Harold of Kernersville. Earl was the proud ""Pop"" to five grandsons, Tommy and Richard Chambers, Zachary and Austin Bodenheimer and Devin Hewett, Earl is also survived by Fianc郩 Sherrie Chandler of Kernersville. A memorial service will be conducted 4:30 PM Sunday June 28, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Pete Kunkle officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the home of Danny Wilkes 5887 Stigall Rd. Kernersville. The family request in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society 4-A Oak Branch Dr, Greensboro NC 27407 or a charity of donors choice.
