E. Clinton Cochran

E. Clinton Cochran, 89, of Salemtowne Retirement Community, formerly of Drumcliff Rd., Winston-Salem, went home to meet his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 19, 2013. Mr. Cochran was born June 12, 1923 in Frederick County, Virginia, the son of Walter S. and Gertie McFarland Cochran. He married his beloved wife Edna Harris in 1952. After graduating in 1941 from John Handley High School in Winchester, VA, Clint worked for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company. During World War II he served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps, attaining the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Upon graduating from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1950, he worked for the Corps of Engineers at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. In 1953 he and his wife, Edna moved to Winston-Salem where he worked for Western Electric until his retirement in 1987. An avid Hokies fan and train buff, he also enjoyed studying history and theology. He was a devoted member of Parkway Chapel and an ardent supporter of world missions. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2004; two sisters, Mary Letzkus and Ruth Turner; and two brothers, Raymond Cochran and Charles Cochran. He is survived by a daughter, Carol Prodan (Jim) of Bear, DE; two sons Mark Cochran (Janet) of Springfield, VA, and Keith Cochran of Bloomington, IN; and a sister, Margaret Holliday of Winchester, VA. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Monday, February 25, 2013, at Parkway Chapel with Pastor David Rickert officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
