Dura Everett Hicks

TOBACCOVILLE-Dura Kathrine Everett Hicks, 76, a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother passed away Monday, January 12, 2015. She was born May 7, 1938 in Guilford Co. to the late Homer Odell and Ozelle Nelson Everett.

Dura was a very kind and compassionate person, who always gave so unselfishly to others and she was a huge animal lover.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Bernie Lee Hicks; daughter, Barbara Diane Hicks; brother, Albert Everett; and sister, Sally Paschal.

Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Raleigh Hicks; son, Timothy Hicks and wife, Cindy; daughters, Tina Maruki and fiancé, David, and Janee Lawson and husband, Jason; grandchildren, Ashley Hicks, Brandon Hicks, Kara Venable, Alec Maruki, Davin Keith, Kayleigh Trout, Meghan Davis, and Daniel Hicks; great-granddaughter, Kennedy Ziglar; her beloved two dogs and two cats; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dr. Bobby Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the funeral home.
