Dr. Harold Eugene Stinson

Dr. Harold Eugene Stinson of Winston-Salem passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and daughters on Tuesday, January 29th at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Harold was born December 7th, 1923 in Boonville, NC to Ernest & Stella Stinson. Harold graduated from Boonville High School, North Carolina State University and the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine. Harold served as a Pilot and Second Lieutenant for the Army Aircorp in World War II flying B-24s and P-63s. Harold opened Forsyth Veterinary Hospital and practiced large and small animal medicine for 33 years. He married the love of his life, Iva Alberty Stinson in 1954; they were married for 58 years. Harold had a true zest for life. He was a beloved veterinarian and an active and well respected member of his community. Harold taught Sunday School and served as Deacon at Clemmons First Baptist Church, he was a Bank Director of Northwestern, First Union and Wachovia Banks in Clemmons and was a Trustee of Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. He was a member of the Clemmons Civic Club, the Clemmons Masonic Lodge and an original member of the Clemmons Men's Coffee Club for 50 years. He loved hunting, traveling in 6 continents and was a devoted Wolfpack fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence Stinson. Harold is survived by his wife, Iva Stinson; daughter Robin Stinson and fiancée Mike Fagan, daughter Patricia Murphy and son-in-law Richard Murphy; granddaughters Scarlett Murphy, Julianna Murphy and Candace Mulherin; sisters Jewel Travis and Wanda (Vance) Parks; brother Dr. Walter (Gynn) Stinson and many loving nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, Feb. 1st at Clemmons First Baptist Church at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clemmons First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 279, Clemmons, NC 27012, The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, 2930 Flowers Road South, Ste.133, Atlanta, GA 30341 or a charity of your choice.
