Dr. Roderick Crouse Jordan

KERNERSVILLE- Dr. Roderick Crouse Jordan, a loving husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend. passed away October 20, 2012 at his residence. He was born May 8, 1939 in Greenville, S.C. to Elizabeth Crouse Jordan and the Reverend Howard Roy Jordan. Dr. Jordan graduated from The University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine in 1968. He opened Kernersville Veterinary Hospital in 1969. A few years later, Dr. Danny L. Dillon joined his practice as his partner and friend. He retired from Kernersville Veterinary Hospital in 2000 after dedicating 31 years of his life to treating both large and small animals. After retirement, he spent the majority of his time in Harker's Island, N.C. He loved the beach and his home there too. He became an avid wood-worker, making all types of furniture. He loved to entertain family and friends, loved to cook and play golf! He was such an inspiration to anyone who met him. His beautiful smile will be remembered by all. He was always there to help his family and friends with anything he could. His family cherished and loved him deeply and he will be greatly missed. He leaves behind a devoted and loving family. His wife of 51 years, Luray Hatley Jordan; daughter, Julie Jordan Chenault, husband Billy and granddaughters, Jill, Jenna and Jordan of Richmond, Virginia; and daughter Susan Jordan Soto and husband, John of Olney, Maryland; and his brother, Dr. Richard D. Jordan and wife, Bettie of Salisbury, N.C. A celebration of his life will be held at Bunker Hill United Methodist Church on Monday, October 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm with Rev. David Rory officiating. His body will be laid to rest at Advance United Methodist Church cemetery in Advance, N.C. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Forsyth County Humane Society, 61 Miller Street, Winston Salem, NC 27104. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
