Dr. Catherine (Cathy) Louise Eilenberger (or Dr. E., as she liked to be called) passed from this earth to her next life on Friday, October 22, 2010. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas on December 13, 1944. She left behind many friends, family members, colleagues and students who loved, admired, and respected her immensely. She will be sorely missed but her impact on each life she came into contact with will continue on. At the time of her death, she was a Professor at Winston-Salem State University and had taught there since 1988. She was a current member of several National associations, Committees, and Agencies concerning Therapeutic Recreation and Aging. She served on the Forsyth County Aging Services Planning Committee for over 10 years and was Chair of the Home and Community Care block Grant Subcommittee. She also had served on the Region I Aging Advisory Council since 1996. Cathy was preceded in death by her biological parents, Fred and Ilene (Allen) Eilenberger and her stepmother Thalia Eilenberger. In her early teens, Cathy was unofficially adopted by her Foster parents, Arthur and Bernice Hunt, who have also preceded her in death, along with brother Howard R. Hunt, her nephews, Matthew Hunt and Mason Hunt, and brother-in law Rodger Goodson. She is survived by several members of the Hunt family, and she is also survived by best friend and (unofficial) adoptive sister Carol Bock (Winston-Salem, NC) and her family. Carol's daughter, Tonya Freeman and Carol's Grandson, Jonathan Williams have also preceded Cathy in death. Surviving members of the Eilenberger family are: Aunt, Glenda Steins (NC) and her husband Carlton Steins; Step Brothers, David King (TN) and family, and Dan King (TX) and family; Cousins, Nita Birge (FL) and family, Richard Eilenberger (TX) and family, Mave Finch (TX) and family. Surviving members of the Allen family are: Aunt, Irene Allen Price; Cousins, David Nelson (AZ) and family, Nancy Stephens (TX) and family, Sherry Feltner (TX) and family, Frances Allen (TX) and family, Joan Church (TX) and family, Jean Thomason (TX) and family. Surviving members of the Hunt family are: Howard's widow, sister-in-law, Carolyn Hunt (Odessa, TX); Nephews, Mark Hunt (CA), Miles Hunt (TX). Sister, Elizabeth Goodson (Leysin, Switzerland); Niece, Marie Murphy(CA) and her husband Frank Murphy; Niece, Kate Goodson (UK) and husband Michael Walker; Nephew, David Goodson(UK) and fiancé©e Amanda Dahl; Sister, Mary Chapman (Oklahoma City, OK); Nephews, David Chapman and Michael Chapman; Brother, James Hunt (Whitesboro, TX); Nephew, Dillon Hunt; Sister, Nancy Breedlove(Allen, TX), her husband Randy Breedlove; Nephew, Steven Breedlove; Niece, Laura Breedlove; and five Great Nieces and Nephews. Surviving members of the Bock family are: Great Nephew, Jason Brown(NC); Nephew, James Williams(NC); Great Nephew, Justin Williams(NC); Niece, Bonita Wheeler(NC) and her husband Ken Wheeler; Great Nephew, Kenneth Wheeler; Great Niece, Amy Brock and her husband Shawn Brock; Great Niece, Amanda Hiatt and her husband Patrick Hiatt; Great Nephew, Gregory Jennings; Nephew, Mike Huber(IL) and his wife Stephanie Huber; and Great Nephews, Josh Huber, Caleb Huber, Jeremy Young, Nathan Young, and Christopher Huber; Nephew, Brad Williams(NC) and his wife Jessica Williams; and Great Nephews, Ashton Williams, and Ryan Williams; and seven Great Great Nieces and Nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 PM Friday, October 29 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
