Dr. Daniels, age 81 of Winston-Salem, died September 22, 2012 peacefully at his home. He was born in Wilmington, NC on November 20, 1930 to the late Clinty W. Daniels and Hattie Puckett Daniels Jenrette. Dr. Daniels attended public schools in New Hanover County and was also a 1956 graduate of Wake Forest College. (Last class on that campus.) Dr. Daniels worked tirelessly for the N.C. Foot and Ankle Society having served most State office positions, including Vice-President and President. He served nine years on the N.C. Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners as Secretary Treasurer, Vice-President, President and many years as Ethics and Grievances Chairman. Dr. Daniels, along with other N.C. podiatric medical doctors, was instrumental in opening hospital privileges for doctors of podiatric medicine in N.C. Dr. Daniels also served over twelve years on the National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners of Podiatric Medical Examiners as President, Secretary-Treasurer and Test Committee Chairman as well as the Federation of Podiatric Medical Boards. He has been a past member of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery as well as the American Council of Podiatric Physicians and Surgeons. He was also a life member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Dr. Daniels retired December 30, 2004 after serving the community for thirty seven years. He was a member of Old Town Baptist Church lead by Dr. Ricky Speas whom he greatly admired for his sermons from the Word of God. Dr. Daniels is survived by his wife, Annie Gore Daniels of nearly sixty years of marriage; sons, Ernest Joseph Daniels, Jr. and wife Debi Boger Daniels, Jeffrey Alan Daniels; grandson, Ryan Patrick Daniels and wife, Natasha. Also he is survived by his youngest sister, Cynthia Daniels Bailey and husband Richard D. Bailey. Dr. Daniels also leaves a number of nieces and nephews whom he cared about very much. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Josephine D. Millis, Nora Peterson, Franklin C. Daniels, and Ray Daniels. A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev .Ricky Speas officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Monday at the funeral home.
