Douglas Schell

Dr. Douglas William Schell, 81, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022. He was born on March 11, 1941, to the late Franklin Pierce Schell and Margaret Fox Krause Schell. Though he was born and raised in Philadelphia, he loved calling North Carolina home for more than 40 years. Doug was an educator for 30 years, a seeker of Truth, and a Patriot who loved his country. Above all, he dedicated himself to living a Christ‐like life and willingly served for many years in various callings as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He received an undergraduate degree from Penn State University, an MBA from Brigham Young University, and a Doctorate from Indiana University.  He also proudly served in the US Air Force.  In addition to his parents, Doug is preceded in death by his brother, Barry. He is survived by his former spouse of 43 years and the mother of his children, Patricia Floyd Schell; six children: Greg (Jane), Rebekah (David), Nathan (Amy), Sam (Linda), Tom (Jane), and Rachael (Ivan); 23 grandchildren; a great‐grandchild; and sister, Barbara.
