Douglas Burton Parnell

Mr. Douglas Burton Parnell, 59, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at his mother's residence where he had lived the last years of his life under her loving care. Mr. Parnell was born on May 17, 1954 in Forsyth County to George Donald Parnell and Helen Hester Parnell. He retired from Roadway Express. Mr. Parnell was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Parnell is survived by his two daughters, Amy Shelton(Billy) and Lacy Parnell(Justin), both of Walnut Cove, NC; two granddaughters, Brandie and Mollie Shelton; his mother, Helen Hester Parnell of Winston-Salem; one sister, Ruth Anthony of Yadkinville, NC; and two brothers, Ronny Parnell (Gerri) of Clemmons, NC and Timothy Parnell(Shelby) of High Point, NC. Funeral services for Mr. Parnell will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 30, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Entombment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of Forsyth County for the care they provided to Douglas during his illness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Forsyth County, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
