Douglas McKinley Nelson

Mr. Douglas McKinley Nelson, 80, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Forsyth Co. on May 12, 1934 the son of the late McKinley and Abie Nelson. Mr. Nelson was retired from the United States Marine Corps as a Staff Sgt. He was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church and had a great passion for motorcycles. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters, a brother, a step-son and a step-daughter. Mr. Nelson is survived by a sister-in-law, Lula Cox and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his loving pastor, Rev. Gary Styers and all his special friends of Liberty Baptist Church. A graveside service will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at Marshall Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Gary Styers officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials made be made to: Liberty Baptist Church, 1548 Old Hollow Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
