Mr. Douglas Ralph “Doug” Hendrix, 80, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born in Stokes County on December 19, 1941, the son of the late Harold Hendrix and Opal Moser Hendrix. Doug proudly served his country in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 37.5 years of service. He enjoyed camping, photography, and traveling with his loving wife. Doug is survived by his wife and soul mate, Brenda Shelton Hendrix; his brother-in-law Jerry Shelton (Shirley), two nephews; Alan Shelton, and Stephen Shelton (Nicole), two great nieces; Kaitlyn and Aubrey Shelton; and many cousins. The family would like to thank Dr. Anthony Kummer, Karen, Dr. Paul Savage, Melissa, Dr. Chukwu, Lauren, and the team at 9 Ardmore East for the loving care and support shown to Doug. A graveside service with military rites will be conducted at 11:00AM Tuesday May 24, 2022, at Rural Hall Memorial Park with Peter Cain, Minister officiating. The family will receive friends 6:00PM - 8:00PM Monday May 24, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Rural Hall Fire Department or a charity of the donor’s choice.
