Douglas Lee Franklin

Mr. Douglas Lee Franklin, 62, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at his residence. He was born to Louise Franklin Smithson aka “Mash” and the late Joseph Edward Franklin, Sr. aka “Pash” on November 2, 1960, in Forsyth County. Doug was a faithful Christian and a true believer of God. He was a talented and dedicated land Surveyor for many years. Not only did Doug have the privilege to work with his father but they would always find time to go fishing. Doug had many hobbies such as drawing and singing, he had an incredible voice and was never afraid to show it. He was a kind soul who loved animals and his two beloved cats. He will always be remembered as a loving brother, uncle, cat dad, and most of all, his mother’s Baby Boy. In addition to his father, Doug is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Francis, and Pearl Whicker. He is survived by his loving mother, Louise Franklin Smithson; siblings, Carolyn Reavis (Larry), Joe Franklin, Jr. (Myra), Kent Franklin, Steve Franklin, and Lori Aaron; nieces/nephews, Angie Doub, Josh Franklin, Mandy Franklin, Jarred Franklin (Jessica), Kayla Franklin, Courtney Franklin, and Christian Brower; great-nieces/nephews, Reagan, Mason, and Connor; and two beloved cats, Stormy, and Lucky. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 12:00pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A visitation will be held from 11:00am to 12:00pm before the service. Officiating the service will be Jeffrey Midkiff.
