Douglas E. Fisher

Mr. Douglas E. Fisher, 71, of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born April 17, 1942 in Asheville, N.C. to Willard Leon and Opal Ernestine Sawyer Fisher. He was retired from Vulcan Materials after 42 years of service. Doug was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Doug made a tremendous and positive impact during his life on a multitude of friends and family through his kind and gentle spirit. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ken Fisher. Surviving are his wife, Mary R. Fisher; two sons, Michael Fisher, Jeff Fisher (Muraka); a stepdaughter, Kristy Reece; 7 grandchildren, Dakota, Sierra, Lakota, Zachary, and Sequoyah Fisher, Jake and Jack Reece; a brother, Ron Fisher (Teresa); a niece, Angela; and a nephew, Bryan(Cindy). The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
