Douglas Ray Beshears

Douglas Ray Beshears, 79, of Lexington, NC passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born to the late Walter Beshears and Lizzie Bates Beshears on November 22, 1945, in Forsyth County.

Doug spent 32 years of his career at R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company as a Making Room Specialist. He was loved by all that knew him and admired by his tall tales and stories of the past. Doug was blessed to have devoted neighbors and special friends from his second home at East Coast Wings.

In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his loving wife, Deborah Beshears; and siblings, Margaret Spillman, Nancy Alderman, James Beshears, Betty Teague, and Ernest Beshears.

He is survived by his daughters, Tracy Beshears, and Deana Beshears (Tammy Hicks); grandson, Charles Beshears; brother, Billy Beshears; sister, Peggy Gabard; Shirley Gentry who he affectionately called his rock and best friend; numerous nieces and nephews; special niece, Haley Chandler; and numerous yard youngins.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm to 2:00pm before the service. Burial will follow at Bethel United Methodist Church.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors and staff at Kate B. Reynolds for the loving care they gave to Doug during his final days. Another special thanks to his caregiver, Kelly.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made in honor of Doug to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home at 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
