COLFAX-Mr. Doug J. Bell, 58, died Monday, July 13, 2009 at his home after battling many years of a serious illness. He was born September 4, 1950 to the late John T. and Ellen Gray Bell. Doug retired from TCI Tire Center with 8 years of service. He previously worked for BF Goodrich and Hardin Oil Co. Doug had numerous years and delighted in coaching baseball, softball, and basketball for Colfax Recreation Association. He was always willing to help other that were in need or just needed a helping hand. Many young lives were touched by Doug's willingness and kindness to help them. He didn't dwell on his own health problem, but always was concerned about others well being. Doug would always ask ""How are you and how is everyone else doing"". In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Bell Marrs. Surviving are his daughter, Brittney Ney and husband Donnie of High Point; a sister, Dr. Gloria Bell of Central, SC; two nephews, Mark (Leigh) Bodenheimer, and Don Bodenheimer; two great-nephews, Austin and Zack Bodenheimer all of Colfax; two aunts; Cammie Atkins of Colfax and Virginia Arnold of Edgewater, MD. A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 pm Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Colfax Baptist Church with the Rev. Beauford Smith and Pastor Tony Dowdy officiating. A reception and visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Dr., Greensboro, NC 27407.
