Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Lee Ring Yates, 80, of Pfafftown, passed away January 21, 2021 at her residence. She was born June 24, 1940 to Claude Vernon and Myrtle Long Ring. Mrs. Yates graduated from Northwest High School. She was a devoted wife and homemaker in the Dozier community, and enjoyed cooking, gardening and entertaining. Mrs. Yates was a talented artist and excelled at drawing and painting. She helped raise many nieces and nephews as well as chickens, guineas, ducks, fish, dogs and cats. She also enjoyed visiting yard sales and flea markets and spending time in the mountains with her husband. Though she suffered from dementia for many years, her family will always remember her fun-loving spirit, gift of hospitality, and generosity to family and neighbors. Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving is her husband of 60 years, Gordon Charlie Yates; three sisters, Hilda Scott, Jane Eudy and Sylvia Patterson; one brother, Lonnie (Shirley) Ring; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bob Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or a charity of choice.
