Kernersville – Heaven gains an angel as the family mourns the loss of Mrs. Dorothy Watkins Wilson. She passed away September 22, 2022, at Hospice of High Point. She was born in Guilford County, on November 6, 1933, to the late Samuel Gentry and Myrtle Melvin Watkins. Dorothy was a loving wife and mother and ‘Mama Dot” to all who knew her. She was known for her homemade goods, such as breads, pimento cheese and her special communion bread. Dorothy was very active in church, loved to participate in her lady’s group and especially loved all children.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lonis, and Richard Watkins, three sisters, Hilda Grey, Oneida Gaines, and Yvonne Smith, two children, Daniel Ward, and Cindi Blake and her husband Tommy.
Surviving are her loving husband, Robert F. Wilson, three daughters, Pamela Donnell (Drew), Cheryl Stafford (Eric) Sarah Williford (Jeff), 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11:30 am Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen Shytle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 pm Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. Online memorials may be made to www.hayworth-miller.com.
