Dorothy Mae Everhart Temples, 86, passed into the more immediate presence of her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of September 12, 2023. She was born October 27, 1936, in Forsyth County to Walter Taft and Cora Elizabeth Snyder Everhart. She graduated from Griffith High School in 1955. After high school, Dorothy went to work for SH Cress, Hanes Knitting and then later RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company from where she would retire in 1988 with almost 30 years of service. Dorothy married the love of her life James Monroe Temples Jr. on September 19, 1959. They were married almost 64 years. Dorothy was a life-long member of Hopewell Moravian Church where she remained active as long as her health permitted. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings: Barbara Pruitt, David Everhart, and Sarah Everhart; and great-grandchild Harper Pitman. Dorothy is survived by her husband and four children: Janice and Cesar Santos of Fresno, CA, Melinda Kissam of Winston-Salem, Dawn and Michael Brann of Winston-Salem and Walter and Tracey Temples of Pinnacle. She is also survived by grandchildren Jennifer Pitman, Justyn and Wade Kissam, Thomas and Rachel Brann, and Wyatt, Conner and Breanna Temples, and great-grandchild Hollis Pitman. Funeral services will be held at Hopewell Moravian Church on Thursday, September 14 at 3:00 pm officiated by the Rev. David Merritt. Burial will follow the service in the church’s graveyard. The family will receive friends on Wednesday September 13 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A special thanks to the care team at Trinity Glen Assisted Living in Winston-Salem and Trellis Supportive Care for treating our mom during her stay.
