Mrs. Dorothy Key Taylor, 88, of Winston-Salem, our dear mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed into the presence of her Lord Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born March 27, 1924 in Surry County to John Martin and Thelma Bean Key. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church and sang in the church choir as long as her health permitted. She was retired from Hanes Knitting with 37 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Shore Taylor; and two brothers, John Wesley Key and Jesse Gray Key. Surviving are two sons, Larry Taylor (Phyllis) of Pfafftown and Wayne Taylor (Deresa) of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Wanda T. Weavil (James) of Winston-Salem; four granddaughters, Lorie Weavil, Leslie Taylor, Marjie Taylor, and Crystal Herring; and two great grandchildren, Reid Herring and Corland Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 10 at Edgewood Baptist Church with the Rev. Kent Hogan officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church, 4067 Reidsville Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
